I first became interested in perfume when I was studying Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh back in 1992. I was pretty unaware of the world of fragrance until Dior released Fahrenheit. This scent was hugely popular amongst the female students at the time and whenever I wore it I received a staggering amount of comment (and phone numbers). I was baffled at first and set about discovering why Fahrenheit held the power it did. Through this experimentation I started to become obsessed with perfumes, their formulation, their creation and their effect.

After my studies I was lucky enough to secure a job with a large pharmaceutical company where I learned much of the practical side of perfume knowledge that I was unaware of. I've travelled the work extensively since them and had the pleasure of working under some very well perfumers and 'noses' over the years.
